Dear 4 Agape 2010,
It is the start of a new year, the year you will be sitting for the national exams, the year that will decide your future. As I was preparing for my first lesson at my new school, I recalled how I used to begin my lessons with you since the year 2007. I hope that in sending this message to you, I will be able to motivate you to try your best during this final year in PHS and achieve outstanding results for the national exams. First, I would like to share with you how your seniors did. 4 Agape 2009: All subjects are above national pass and 6 out of 9 subjects registered distinction rates above national's.
Special mention to Maths with an increase from 16.1% to 22.6%, Science from 16.1% to 62.5%, Technical Studies from 3.2% to 20.7%, CPA from 3.2% to 41.9%.Top pupil- Amanda Koh Overall, 100% N(T) made it for ITE with Amanda Koh eligible for NA course with 5 distinctions. This is first in PHS history.
Amazing results! I am sure you will hear more tomorrow in school. It is your turn, 4 Agape 2010. Your class has always been an exceptional class, every one of you has the potential to achieve academic excellence. However, this is only possible if you try and start from day ONE, which means 4 January 2010. You must try your best to pay attention in all classes, ask teachers questions if you are unsure, do your homework regularly and attempt more exam papers on your own. Plan how you spend your time carefully, and make sure that you have balanced school work and rest time. Remember: 'The failure to plan is a plan to fail.' ' Success= 99% hard work + 1% intelligence.'
With your results, you will go into the choice of ITE course in 2011. Before you know it, you would have graduated and started job searching. You might one day be faced with the responsibility of supporting the elderly in your family, when once they took care of you. Where do YOU see YOURSELF in 10 years? Much of your future lies in your hands and the decisions you make throughout this year. Ask yourself:
Should I be rude and disrupt the class?Should I use my handphone during lesson?Should I bother to do my homework?Should I bother going to school today? I feel so lazy...
I believe in every single one of you. In December 2010, when you receive your results, I will be anxious to find out how you did. Strive to do even better than your seniors and keep up the good work! Make your family proud the day you receive your results :)
Most importantly, carry yourselves as gentlemen and ladies. You are after all, turning 16 this year.
I will miss you this year, nagging, confiscating your EZ link cards, losing my temper at you, laughing with you.
Put the past behind you and start afresh this year. 4 Agape 2010 is one of the most united classes in the Sec 4/5 level. Remind each other to keep on trying to be the best you can. Influence each other positively to achieve success.
Be good and keep in touch.
With love,
Ms Kumari
